Post idea generator
Tell it your niche and the network, and get a week of post ideas: one a day, each with a format, an opening line and an outline you can write from.
Who you are and who you post for, up to 200 characters. Free, no sign-up.
How to use it
- Describe your niche in a sentence: what you do, and for whom. Mention what makes you different, such as a place, a speciality or a point of view.
- Pick the network. Formats follow it: carousels and Reels on Instagram, threads and polls on X, document carousels on LinkedIn, Shorts on YouTube.
- Read the plan, keep the ideas that sound like you, and copy them one at a time or all at once as plain text for your notes or content calendar.
The hook is the part to spend time on. It is the only line most people read before deciding to stop scrolling, so rewrite it in your own voice.
Turning ideas into a week of posts
A plan works when it is realistic. If seven posts a week is too many, pick the three strongest ideas and post those well. Consistency over months matters more than volume in one week.
Mix the formats the plan suggests. A week of only talking-head videos or only text posts gets repetitive; alternating how-tos, behind-the-scenes posts, questions and examples of your work gives people different reasons to follow.
Batch the work. Write every caption in one sitting, make the visuals in another, then schedule the lot. Our best time to post guide has published starting points for when to post, and the character counter checks each caption fits every network before it goes out.
What each network rewards
- Instagram: Reels for reach, carousels for saves and detail, Stories for the people who already follow you.
- TikTok: short vertical video with a strong first second; photo carousels for step-by-step posts.
- LinkedIn: a clear point of view in text, document carousels for how-tos, and posts about real work rather than announcements.
- X, Threads and Bluesky: short text that starts a conversation, and threads for anything longer.
- YouTube: Shorts to be found, long videos to keep people; community posts in between.
- Pinterest: vertical images and videos that answer a search, with descriptive titles.
Questions
- What do I get?
- Seven post ideas, Monday to Sunday. Each has a format that exists on the network you chose (a TikTok plan never suggests a Reel), an opening line to hook the reader, and a short outline of what the post shows or says.
- How do I get better ideas?
- Be specific about who you are and who you post for. “A neighbourhood bakery that sells sourdough and runs weekend baking classes” gives the model far more to work with than “bakery”. Run it again for a different week: the ideas change each time.
- Can I trust the facts in the ideas?
- Treat them as a draft. The model is told not to invent statistics, but it can still get details wrong. Check prices, dates, claims and anything about your business before you post.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no sign-up. There’s a limit of about 10 generations a minute per person and a daily cap across everyone, so the tool stays free. If you hit the limit, wait a minute.
- Can I schedule the whole week from my own app?
- If you are building one, yes: the postpeg API schedules posts to X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business with one request per post, and reports back per account.

For developers
Publish to all of them with one API call
postpeg is an API for products that post to social networks. Write the post once, and it is checked against every network’s rules, then published or scheduled on any mix of the 10 networks we support, with a status for each account.
